TRACY WRIGHT RACE REVIEW OF ALSAGER 5 2018
My first shock was when I saw my plan which said we were on a ‘red’ run, not just a trot around hee hee. So I had my plan and off we went.
The first two miles weren’t going to plan as my HR was exceptionally high for the slow speed I was running. “Must stick to the plan” was in my head so walk breaks it was.
Two miles over – right time to kick some butt and start chasing people down. With hubby next to me, off we went, and bizarrely my HR settled. I felt strong, giving lots of ‘well dones’ on the way and a high 5 to a little fella supporting.
Mile 4 done – feeling good.
“All out for mile 5, you are the best there. All or nothing. How many people can you pick off” I can hear Frank telling me in my head’.
Pace picked up, made sure hubby was ok and kicked on.
In the last ¾ mile, Frank appeared and supported me through. I still felt strong, battled with breathing and devil in my head. Two corners to go – Grrrrrr I will get past these 5 people. Sprint finish in final straight – boom.
It was an awesome feeling going over the line, I’ve only ran a few races and this was ran very differently than my others, competing to be the best that I could be for that 5 miles, not just running the race.
A massive thank you to Frank for his support and planning, particularly as this wasn’t in the original plan. I am beaming with pride 😁. On to the next one 👊
